Two Men Arrested for Resisting Arrest, Poaching, and Weed

If you are going to poach turkey you should probably leave your weed at home, because that is just going to add to your troubles. And when you do get caught do not run from the game wardens because they will catch you. But being stupid is pretty much par for the course when it comes to these two idiot poachers.

News-press.com reported that Justin Alderman and Dalton Mace were caught poaching during  a special turkey hunt on Babcock Ranch Preserve property in Charlotte County, Florida. These two geniuses  thought it would be a good idea to sneak unto a ranch without a permit and shoot a bird off the roost.

A couple of early morning shots helped two Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission officers to pinpoint where the before-hours hunting was taking place. The shots were fired at 7:08 a.m. on March 12 with the special hunt scheduled for 7:11 a.m.

The officers spotted the two walking through the woods near the shooting site and carrying a turkey. When the officers identified themselves the two men decided to try and high tail it out of there.

Mace eventually stopped, but Alderman continued to run. He  dropped his turkey and kept running.  He did not get very far due to becoming entangled in a  barb wire fence.

After a quick investigation the officers found that the harvested turkey was likely shot while it was sitting in a tree. And to make matters worse neither man had permits for the special Babcock hunt plus,a small baggie of marijuana was found on Alderman.

Alderman was charged with possession of marijuana, taking a turkey before legal shooting hours, taking a turkey off the roost, failing to check in/out or check game taken, and resisting arrest without violence. He was also ticketed for hunting without a quota permit and not using the designated entry or exit point.

Mace was charged with failing to check in/out or check game taken and violating probation. He was restricted to Glades and Hendry County but had entered Charlotte County and participated in illegal hunting activities. He was also ticketed for hunting without a quota permit, not using designated entry or exit, no hunting license, no management stamp, and no turkey permit.

Crime does not pay hopefully these boys will learn their lesson.
